Spring Break... Day 2

For day two, we decided to make some soap. I wanted to make some for party favors for Layla's birthday, so I figured why not do it now? So we gathered our supplies...

Cut up the soap bar...

Melted it and added some color... First lavender.

We added that to the molds...

Next up, some seafoam green...

Added that to the mold...

And finally, some peach...

And we added that to the molds.

Proud of their handywork:

While we were waiting for them to cool, I decided we would make up some strawberry shortcake. Even though Layla wont touch it, and Blake will only eat the cake & Cool Whip.

Check out this monster berry!

She might not be willing to eat it, but she wanted to help make it!

Finally, the soapsicles were ready!

I think they turned out pretty cute! And really easy.

They almost look good enough to eat!

Spring Break... Day 1

The kids are on Spring Break this week. This time last year we were in Martinsville, Virginia. We wont be taking a vacation away from home this year, but I thought I would try and have the kids do something each day so they have some fun while on break.
So today they had a "Wii Day" with their aunt. Fun for them, and it gave me some free time! I wanted to get some portraits taken of Morgan while she's still pretty small, so we headed to the mall. I think her pictures turned out pretty cute. And she was really good for them. A couple weeks ago, I got an email from the mall with a printable coupon for a free $15 gift card. So I used that and a 15% off coupon at the Children's Place and got Layla her Easter outfit. Here it is:

Other than that, today was fairly un-eventful. I worked in the garden a little, trying to get it ready to plant.

I also wanted to say, I'm participating in Gypsy Mermaid Life's Pink & Green Swap. Check it out!

I'm going to try and post each day about what activity we did that day. Hope your Monday was a good one!

Why I Rarely Scrapbook... & Some Free Fun

No, not because of Possum up there, I just thought he was adorable all stretched out. But THIS is why:

Looks like any other scrapper, right? Or crafter even? It would be great if when I was done I could just walk away and leave that sitting on the desk... except it's my living room! I never thought we would ever need 5 bedrooms, but now that there are 5 of us in a tiny, 1200+ square foot, 3 bedroom house, 5 rooms would be FANTASTIC! But since that isnt happening, I scrap in the living room. So all this has to be picked up every time I drag it all out. Sometimes it just isnt worth all the trouble.

To my right:

To my left:

But I'm pretty happy with the end result:

For the weekend fun... this morning we ran to the party store to get supplies for Layla's Luau. I had a coupon for 30% off your purchase that I didnt want to let go to waste. We ended up saving almost $40! But when we stopped at the bank, we noticed that the shopping plaza they just built next door was having a Grand Opening. Funny, because there is only one tenant right now. But they were celebrating anyway. They had a sign that said something about holding a live alligator. So after the party store, we decided to stop by. Layla was all gung-ho until it came down to it. She chickened out, but Blake decided to go ahead.

He was so excited to call Daddy and tell him!
So how was your Saturday?

We're Having a Luau!

For Layla's 5th Birthday (holy crap, 5 already?!) we're having a Luau! Usually I make the invitations for their parties, but this year, I decided to go the easy & fast route. Look at these cute invitations I found on Etsy! The seller is Manuni. They turned out so cute! I printed the little card about the swimsuits & it's covering our address & phone number. The big day is quickly approaching (and of course, her birthday is falling a week apart from Easter this year!), so I'm trying to get all of my ideas & everything together. If you have any ideas you think might be cute, feel free to share! LOL! We don't have a pool, but I figured we could get out the slip & slide & waterguns... and maybe this giant inflatable easel. Other than that, I don't have any activities planned. Any ideas?

Wrestling Fan?

Who knew, that at 3 weeks old, that Morgan was a fan of wrestling, the WWE?

Apparently Blake did.

"New" Goodies

Blake spent the day at Disney's Animal Kingdom with his aunt & uncle, so this morning, Mike, Morgan, Layla & I decided to head over to this community yard sale that was going on. Didnt really find much though. Hopefully some of those frames in that stack with become framed button monograms. I listed one on Etsy, so we'll see how that goes.

I found this little Atlas jar. I've never seen one with a shamrock on it.

Anyone that lives near a Publix has seen the Thanksgiving commercials with the little Pilgrim salt & pepper shakers. I have the Pilgrims, the "Lilgrims" (kids) and for Christmas, a set of snowmen. I have never seen the Santa & Mrs. Claus though, so we picked these up.

Blake has been playing the Wii at his aunts lately (we dont seem to use ours much!) and has really taken a liking to the golf on Wii Sports. He mentioned the other day wanting to play. So of course, since this sale was in a 55+ community, there were lots of golf clubs & balls. So Blake is now the owner (I'd say proud, but he doesnt know yet) of two golf clubs....

And 23 golf balls. There was 24, but Daddy wanted to give it a try when we got home and lost the neon yellow one in the pond.

The rest of the day has been pretty quiet. Mike is taking a nap. A friend stopped over after work to visit and Layla has been playing pretty good. Now the fun starts, trying to get her to pick up her "fun".

But I thought I would share a few new additions that I hadnt gotten around to sharing. I found this Floraline planter at the thrift store.

Mike's mom got this Pyrex dish from someone she knows, and she passed it along to me.

Mike's dad brought this metal table home from work for me. I guess they had it out by a bench, and when the bench fell apart, they got rid of the table, too.

I guess one day we need to give all of this a new paint job. As much as I like this color blue, they have some rusty spots & I dont want them to get worse.

Thats it for now! Not a lot of junking going on these days, but that's okay. :) Oh, and I made a new blog banner, too. The photo is of our orange tree. It's FULL of blooms, and the yard smells amazing! Hope you found something good this weekend as well!

The Girls' Room

Since obviously the crib is up :) I thought I would share the girls' bedroom. If only we could keep it neat like this! And yes, Layla has it on some sort of news program or something, lol.

Layla's bed. She just had to be in the picture. She's all about posing for the camera. Her bedding used to have colored pom-poms on top of it, but she gradually removed all of them.

Morgan's crib. :)

And a close-up of the bedding.

The "bookhouse" with the curtains hung.

The shelf with the handkerchiefs.

And their button monograms all hung up.

I didnt get a picture of the closet with her "curtain" hung, but I'm not in love with it. They only had one shade of pink at Walmart and it's not quite as big as I like. So I guess I'm still watching for something better.
I know ALL of my recent posts have been baby related, I just can't help it! Lol! Have a great week!
